2010 Exam Requirements from International Code Council
Frank C. Morris, CBO, CEAP, MCP
Printer-Friendly Format

Effective December 18, 2009, ICC has published their Exam Bulletin for the year 2010 which will use the 2009 I-Codes and the 2008 NEC.  It appears that there are a lot of things in the works because the bulletin is only valid for January - February 2010.

If you are a member of StudyTheCode.com, you may download the new bulletin in the Download area of the website.  If you are not a member, you can go to:

http://www.iccsafe.org/Accreditation/Bulletins/National_Certification_EIB.pdf

to download the bulletin.

For all of your folks that are still enforcing the 2006 I-Codes, we have good news and not so good news.  The good news is that ICC has decided to give everyone an option to either take their exams using the 2006 I-Codes or the 2009 I-Codes.  The not so good news is the 2006 I-Codes will only be available by Paper and Pencil exams which are only given once a quarter.

But we do have it from good authority that ICC will probably have the 2006 I-Code computer tests once every 6 weeks.  We think that is one reason the current bulletin is only good for 2 months.

Our personal opinion is unless you are close to a paper and pencil test sight, this is really not going to be an asset to you.  In addition, when you are ready to take an exam, you are ready to take it now.  So I assume most everyone will continue to probably go computer testing instead of paper and pencil.

But we are glad to see ICC making an effort to accomodate it's members by continuing to offer in some manner the 2006 exams.

This is another Tip of the Week from StudyTheCode.com.
